Any other fish that gets about 2-3'' long that'll work with the groumi?

Aren't kissing groumis usually rather peaceful? My 6th grade science teacher had one with some kind of neon ; never bothered them.

That shouldn't be a problm, but you will need to watch them carefully to be sure. Kissing gourami can get a bit territorial and may attack the guppies. If you add several guppies at once that may help prevent one from being a target.

I've had bad luck with this combo. The gourami's harrassed the guppies enough to stop breeding... then die.

I have heard of other people having better luck though. Maybe tank size is a variable that affects their aggression levels.

the only problem that arrise is that they need very different pH levels, the kissing need a lowe pH that might be too acidic for the guppies. id actually recomend you get some tetras. and kissing are the nicest type of gourami....some gouramis can be very aggressive, these guys have their mean streak, but tetras will be able to fend for themselves....

If you do, watch them carefully. Gouramis are normally VERY aggressive. Mine killed all 4 or 5 tank mates by biting holes in their heads.
