well if you want a pet that you can spend alot of time with and go for walks I would choose a dog They are great companions.
A cat on the other hand will make a good pet if you want a impended pet. Cats are not as
needy as dogs. They will come to you when they want attention then leave.
I love both. Have had both

It depends on your lifestyle. Dogs can be trained, but unless you have a good sized backyard, you have to take it for walks. Cats are independent, need less attention, but they are extremely hard to train. A dog that tears stuff up can be trained to behave, but a cat has the long term memory of a pot-smoking amoeba. Cats make lousy guard animals, but rottweillers don't fit in your lap, nor do they look as cute as a kitten.

Long and short of it is, are you a dog or a cat person?

A dog takes alot more work and attention than a cat. Some cats prefer to be alone and all you have to do is make sure they have food, water, kitty litter, and a sunny spot to lay. A dog needs potty trained and absolutely adores his master and needs more affection. If you live close to Maryland, I have a stray gray cat with orange eyes that I have been feeding. Good luck.

Depends on what you want. Do you want a best buddy who greets you at the door with enthusiasm? Who follows you around room to room, brings you balls to throw again and again. Who looks at you with undying devotion and likes to lick your face? Or do you want a pet that's aloof and independent who doesn't come when called but when it wants to. Is cute and soft and calm (as an adult). Who can play independently, does it's...business indoors so no standing in the snow, rain etc begging it to just go already. Who may pounce on you in the middle of the night and start kneeding you. Or might curl up besides you and purr.
