In person, I just tell them so. Here, I usually edit my comments or do something to let them know....I am very straight forward.

Just be like, "Hey thats a really good idea," or "That is pretty cool, we should try it sometime," or ask them about how they know about it or their experiences with it.

In person, I look them directly in the eye as they speak.
(but come to think of it, as I type this answer, I am looking you directly in the eye...spooky)
