Depends on what kind of tele program it was.

If it was fiction, it was either picking a date to avoid having to mess around with historical facts. Or, if it was a mystery, it could have been a clue.

If it was an actual, real, gravestone, then it was either a joke or a typo that no one caught.

Hope that helps.

(If your real question is was there a 2-31-1807, and answer is an emphatic "NO!")

i870 was a time when people who made gravestones drank a lot of alcoholic brews, distillations, and fermentation's sometimes
from large buckets at the workshops and public places. That
more mistakes were not made is the miracle of the Industrial Revolution. Consider what you've learned over a bottle of gin.
Good luck on being able to get up afterward to turn off your telly.

It may have been 23rd January, originally written down British fashion as 23.1.1807. The first stop might have been indistinct, leading to the whole thing being read as 2.31.1807 according to the American system, and written out accordingly.
Or possibly the whole thing was written out in Roman numerals, xxxiiimdcccvii. It was really 30th March but once again the stop was indistinct.

The person did not die. By giving a date that never existed the program was giving you a clue that the death did not occur. What type of television program was it? Please answer by adding details to your question. This will assist us in giving you better answers.
