I'd say an addiction because there is a dependence there whether it be physical or psychological. A habit is something that if you can muster the willpower, can usually be broken without a lot of problems. However, breaking an addiction can be painful and frustrating. Just ask someone who has given up smoking or a drug of some kind.

Addiction because you think you "need" it. Habit is more or less something done out of boredom.

Habit.
When I was quitting smoking I did not have a lot of trouble with the withdrawal. After a year I am still feeling a bit lost here and there without a cigarette.

Shalom.
