There's some good suggestions by others here, but the best place to gain information on Singapore is the Singapore Tourism Bureau website, run by the Government of Singapore. http://www.tourismrankings.com/Singapore/

I've also enclosed a directory of accommodation for Singapore http:www.cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/Singapore/ which you can sort by star rating and location. Around $22 per night per room is about the minimum, and for this you can actually upgrade from a hostel to a hotel and have your own bathroom.

Dig into the last minute offers as well as they often include free extras like amenities, breakfasts. another thing to watch for when yo're wanting to save is your location. Transport adds up over a month's stay.

So there ae many false economies ..... make sureyou budget well and get the best.

Good luck with your planning.

If u don't care about having to share a bathroom, (and i mean a shower & toilet) and don't care about having a tv or a closet that sort of thing, if all u want to do is sleep in ur room, then try the 'Generator Hostel' i know the name is bad but whatever London is expensive so save ur money for food & entrance to attractions, tube, gifts etc.. Pros:Your room will be fairly clean, about 2-3 blocks from tube station near, internet point in place (1eur per 30 min i believe), free breakfast, there are lot of young people so if u are into meeting other travelers, youll find many here, also near Rusell Square and British Museum... Cons:bar at site (yes in the same building), as i've stated before no toilet or shower in room, rooms are small. Also u can choose to have ur private room or to sleep with other people (of course its not the same price), so if u book make sure its the room u want!

The best area in Singapore for you to rent a whole month would be the Geylang area. There is no need to worry about availability. The rooms are always available, and they are affordable too.

When you arrive into Singapore, just get on the cab, and tell the guy you want a hotel in the Geylang area. He/she will take you there.

Don't worry, Singapore is a safe place, and I can assure you that Geylang is the most happening and in-place to be seen these days in Singapore.

Singapore is a safe, secure and comfortable environment to live, work, learn and play. With one of the world’s highest standards of living, low crime rates and political stability, the streets are safe even for late night party-goers and shift workers.
