Well I remember Andy Gray on Sky Sports stating that he doesn't think you are a true football fan unless you go to about 3/4 of the games for you team in a season. Which rules out people who have a season ticket and only go to home games, even though they can spend up to £2000 on season tickets. I don't agree with him.

I think a true football fan is someone who enjoys the skill/art involved. And in order to know that I think you need to actually play football, then you can appreciate how good these top players are.

If you enjoy the excitement of end-to-end footy then you're a true fan.

If you can enjoy a quality 0-0 game of footy as much as a 4-3 then you can appreciate the game.

What makes me lol is Man u fans who swear they have been lifelong loyal supporters, and not glory hunters, but in fact the only reason they ever heard of the team was because of their continued success. How many live in Manchester?go to old trafford[the home ground in case you did'nt know]and the coaches are from every other part of the country.Their dominance of the league was based on their huge wealth, now that they have rivals just as rich the air is full of the cry"not fair",and"you bought the trophy".Well, you incredibly loyal people, how many of you have been to the Den or the Boleyn ground, how loudly did you sing at Stamford Bridge or Cardiff City. A Real Fan queues up outside the toilets that stink of p*ss to buy a crappy hamburger at half-time and still comes back for the next game!Does that include you ?

A true fan is 1 that attends regular games, an is true to where they came from
eg; Until Chelsea had been taken over i hardly ever saw any 1
walking round with the blue shirt on, now every 1 seems
to be a dedicated fan (yet all they new was that they were
Top of the league) it makes me laugh.
I support Man.U. but i supported them when the wern't at the top

A true football fan is someone who supports their local team, whatever division they are in, and does not jump on the bnandwagon of one of the top teams because they are winning. Also someone who supports their national team not just during the World Cup or European Champioships. Thirdly, someone who doesn't hate someone else just because they support a rival club - the same goes for people who just hate a team just becuase they are rivals.
I love football by the way.

Someone who follows their team through thick and thin.

Manchester City went down two divisions and still got crowds like they were in the Premiership. In the late 80's Manchester United were struggling, and I remember a league fixture against Wimbledon at Old Trafford and the crowd was around 17,000.
