well there was one that terrified me as a child.
i will tell it to you right now.
--->Amanda went to the driving acedemy to get her licence and they wanted totest drive her. So her and the man sitting next to her went for a ride. The person giving her the test was actually her boyfriend. So they drove longer than usually alowed for students. They drove arounf until sinset. Then finally without realizing it, the gas of the car had run out. Her boyfriend, Nick says, "I think i saw a gas station about 2.5 miles down the road, i'll ask for some gas and we can get back going." They agreed and she said for him to be careful becuase it was getting dark. He left. And she was all alone. Amanda decided to sit in the car while waiting for Nick. After awhile she got bored and turned on some music from teh radio. She listened and listen for hours. Then she heard something else. A scraping, like something was rubing slowly against teh top of the car. She touch of the rooft but couldnt feel anything so Amanda turned the msuic louder. The scraping sooner or later got louder also. Amanda turned the music up even louder. Now she was getting worried about Nick. Where could he have gone? She turned up the music and tried her cell phone, but then she realize Nick took it. She sat there scared for her boyfriend, listening to the anooying scraping and loud music. Not long after this did Amanda fall asleep.
clink. clink .clink.
Amanda opened her eyes. A police man was using his flashlight to knock on the window. She block her eyes from teh bright sun. She looked around. She was still in the car and Nick was still not back. She rolled down the car window and told the police man, "My boyfriend, Nick, went down the road to teh gas station for some gas. We broke down about eight lat night. Have you heard from him?" The police man just starred as Amanda and sighed. Amanda was concerned.
"No, Miss, we did not. But i would like you o step out of teh car, but what ever you do dont turn aroudn ok?"
"Ok." Amanda said shakely"
She climbed out teh car walked a couple feet to the police man adn tehn turned around anyway.
she screamed.
Nick was hanging off a tree branch, dead, and his foot was dangling above the car.
it was the sound of his foot scarping aross the top of teh car that Amanda heard. And when they found her cell phone in his tied hands. They saw a picture taken of amanda sitting in the car waiting for Nick, And Nick hanging right above her head.
they never foun his killer.

Do you want fact or fiction?
If it's fact you'd like, I'd suggest you do some reading on such historical incidents and institutions as the Roman Empire and its treatment of conquered provinces and rebels (and there were some real "refinements" in the various and very painful deaths Nero meted out following the fire of Rome), the war against the Cathars of southern France in the Middle Ages, the Inquisition, the witch hysteria in Europe from about the 1400's to the 1600's, the record of the Conquistadors in Latin America, the Indian wars in what later became the US (lots of bloodletting on both sides there!), and, finally, such repressive regimes as those of Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot. Also look into such incidents as the Sepoy Mutiny in India in the mid-1800's and the slave rebellion in 1790's Haiti.
Ann Rule's true crime books might also be of interest to you.
If that doesn't satisfy your appetite for gore (I chose real historical events, since you posted on the History section), there are always Thomas Harris' novels featuring Hannibal Lecter.
Personally, I think just the field of human history will give you your fill of horror stories (and nightmares, because these are things that really happened, to real people, and not the product of a writer's fancy!).

I'll give you one that's unfolding as we speak, and it's pretty frightening:
America, as we know it, will cease to exist. Americans are too busy drooling over celebrities, and being selfish, to see it coming. Jobs that haven't been shipped to the north or south of us, courtesy of NAFTA are going to illegals who work for half price and don't pay taxes.
The militants of the world have us in their cross-hairs; we learned nothing from 9/11 - our president is starting WWIII in stages, with no real plan or real backing, and we are too arrogant, self absorbed, and just plain clueless to see reality.
That should scare the **** out of you!!!
