This was a joint venture between PAL (Premier Automobiles Ltd) & Peugeot. The media is covering the takeover of Daewoo's Assets in India but there is no news / information about Pal Peugeot Ltd.

Because Peugeot has horrible quality issues. Those cars are absolutely terrible.

Its just because Peugeot first off has a very very difficult name and not lot of Indians could (and still can't) pronounce it. That was murder for the advertising department!!

Secondly, in my opinion it should have collaborated with somebody other than PAL. As PAL was not a very secure company and had a really bad service network themselves.

Also i think Peugeot was gambling on India to be faster in adapting to new cars than China but when they realised that China was the better bet, it just lost interest in India.

They also had only one model (i don't remember if it was the 305 or the 306) and that car was smaller than the Maruti Esteem and more costly.

As for their current asset status, can't help you there...

Because Peugeots are the worst vehicles on earth except prehaps the Russian Zil or some other weird Red Chinese made clunker. At least Renaults will usually transport it's passengers from point A to point B without a major breakdown, though it is no premier vehicle itself.
