Pick mortar off before it sets to hard. Have you 'pointed' yet??
Clean up brickwork using a stiffish hand brush, bristle, NOT wire, 'sweeping' at an angle of about 45 degrees to the mortar joints. Hope this helps..........PS. Do NOT use a wire brush. It will ruin and weaken the 'face' of the brick...

hi, let the mortar dry and go GREEN this is when you can still feel the mortar is a little damp, it takes a day or two, then brush off with a wire brush,,, DO NOT use acid this will discolour the bricks DO NOT use water this will spread the mortar over the bricks and make them look as if you have slapped the mortar all over the place,

Depends on the brick and it's finish. Normally just a stiff bristled brush should do. I know of walls being washed with brick acid but I avoid this. After pointing, just brush it down.

go to the hardware store, or your local concrete supplier and ask for a special cleaner for concrete. don't worry the cement should be dry before you use it. i believe it's called muratic acid.

You can clean up with water before it dries completely, otherwise you have to use Hydrochloric acid.
