He ran off to a private estate in Bahrain as a guest of the local Royal family. He was received warmly and has been seen in and out of Bahrain. Because the Persian Gulf is so far away from the USA, it is quite possible to remain here and out of the public eye. The local press in Bahrain does not hound celebrities like Michael Jackson, the way they would in the West. So for the most part he is left alone to himself.
I don't think that he will be re-charged again for any of his past mistakes. It would just cost the tax-payer too much to go through this whole process again. So the deal was probably cut that he leaves the country and goes away for a while. People have short memory about such things. They all hope that this is the end of story.
Last I heard, he has acquired himself a very large estate somewhere far away from the main center of Bahrain, with a very modern, state-of-the-art recording studio. So I do not think that we have heard the last of him. Don't be surprised if he makes a come back with a super hit one day soon. He too hopes that people will have short memories.
For the time being, he has chosen to live in this self-imposed isolation, work on his music and wait out his time until this little incident blows (Oops!) over.

Last I heard, he had left the country and was living out in the Persian Gulf in Bahrain.

he lives now in Bahrain...where no one is covering his daily activities if u know what i mean!
