There's this special powder from Dr. Schoals that you can get at the drug store... It sprays into his shoes and absorbs the odor quickly. You could also try sprinkling baking soda, which absorbs odor, but make sure they're not wet at all or you'll have a pastey mess! Also, Frebreeze works well too...

On a side note, even if none of the above works, at least you won't have to smell them since he'll be off at military school :)

Good luck! And if he's enlisted, give him a big hug and a thank you from me....

Sweat is what makes shoes smell so bad so you need to tell him to start putting foot powder inside this socks before putting his shoes on. That will help remedy the cause.

As far as the shoes, sometimes you can never get the smell completely out. First soak them in a vinegar, ammonia, water mix then wash them using a scented fabric softener.

All of the answers above will work in the short run but will not solve the problem. Get your son a small hand scrub brush like for use on tile and tell him to scrub his feet, tops, sides and especially the bottoms every time, every single time he showers. The first couple of times his feet will hurt but they will toughen up and that god forsaken stench will slowly go away!

Bonds foot powder does a great job. My boots sometimes smell after a long day on my feet and that does the job.

Try putting Baking Soda in them and then let sit over night, then dump out the baking soda and it should have the odor gone. If not then try having your son go to a foot specialist or dr. he might have fungus or something.....

Deoderizer and a strong lemon cleaner.

If that fails, burn the shoes, have him wear sneakers--and write a note to his CO and tell him that it's not his fault. :0)
