The Son of God is God, God come in the flesh.
When Satan tempted Jesus, Jesus said replied, "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." (see Matthew 4:6-7, Luke 4:12)
When people worshipped Him (only worship of God is allowed), Jesus allowed it (see Matt 14:33)
In John chapter 1, we learn that Jesus is the Word of God and the Creator, and that the Word of God is God (see John 1:1-3), and that God was made flesh. (see John 1:14)
Jesus confessed that He is the Son of God so the Jews want to kill Him for this blasphemy because He made Himself God (see John 10:33-38, John 19:7) (also see John 20:31)
When the High Priest asked Jesus if He was the Christ, Son of God, Jesus replied that "Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven." The High Priest said that this was blasphemy because it was clear that Jesus was refering to Himself as God (otherwise it would have just been a statement). (see Matthew 26:63-66)
Jesus claims to be the I AM, a title belonging to God, and they wish to stone Him for it. (see John 8:58, Mark 14:62, John 18:5-8)
Jesus claims to be the bread of life (only God gives life) (see John 6:35, 48, 51, 63) Jesus confesses to be the Way, the Truth and the Life (only God is this) (see John 14:6, John 17:17)
Jesus confesses that He is Master and the Lord. (see John 13:13)
Jesus confesses that He is God the Father (see John 13:9, John 10:30-31)
Jesus confesses that only God the Son and God the Father know each other as such (see Lu 10:22)
Jesus confesses that whatever God does, He does too (see Joh 5:19, Joh 5:26)
Jesus accepts Thomas' confession that He is Lord and God (see John 20:28-29)
God Almighty confesses that He is Jesus (Act 9:5, Revelation 1:8, Revelation 21:7, Revelation 22:13-16, Hebrews 1:8)

Jesus never said he was God, He always said he was the only begotten Son of God. People is the ones that say he was God, because they don't have a clear thought on how to see the True Godhead.

people use you seen me you seen the Father, Jesus Christ was saying he was with Jehovah God from the beginning and he knows his Father real well. Jesus was the first creation by Jehovah God. when Jesus was on earth, he prayed to his Father Jehovah in the heaven. when Jesus was baptized, Jehovah came down like a dove and said this is my son the beloved. no one has seen Jehovah, not even Moses, who only seen Jehovah's back. Jesus Christ is sitting at the right hand of Jehovah

God is a jealous God and abhors people worshiping false gods. We see Jesus who is God (The lamb of God) being worhiped by all of creation, Revelation 5:13 to 14 Says.
Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing to him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power for ever and ever! The four living creatures said Amen and the elders fell down and worshiped.
He also implied to the Jews in the Gospels he was God when he said he was one with the Father, which is why the Jews eventually crucified him, because of this claim.

Don't read the bible literally, otherwise you'll miss a lot. For example there's no verse saying you shall not take abuse your enemy yet the bible says exactly that you should not do that! So read the bible between the lines if you want to know how and why Jesus is both.

When Jesus said "Before Abraham was born I AM", he was referring to the highest name of God(YHWH) revealed to Moses on Mt. Sinai. The religious people of the time refused to speak it because they considered it too holy.
In the early church one of the first testimonies of the follower of Christ was "Jesus is Lord". Rom. 10:9 The word "Lord" here is Kurios in the Greek which is used to translate the Hebrew word YHWH.
The scripture you use Gal. 2:6 starts with "Who in the form of God" (literal Greek). The word form in Greek is "morphe" which is a very strong word for being similar; from visually to that which is intrinsic and essential.
The following verse states "in the likeness of men having become" the word for likeness here is "homoioma" which would be a weak meaning for similar based on outward looks only.
Jesus was God in form and being but merely resembled a human.
So, Jesus claimed to be God and the early Christians claimed that he was God. Without this divinity, perfection would have been impossible and the "perfect sacrifice" for our sins would not be.

John 1. Keep in mind please; the term God can be either singular or plural in the original Hebrew (ballpark about 10 words).
