They can try traction for you, however, it mostly depends on your age. I have scoliosis, it wasn't discovered until I started having neck/back pain. They said if I had been young, in my early teens surgery would be used, since I'm much older, live with it. A friend had the surgery in school, she wore a plaster cast around her body for 3months, that followed the surgery where they put a metal rod along her spine, she has great posture now, was told she would not be able to delivery children vaginally, however, she proved them wrong and delivered twins vaginally.

Yes. Scoliosis isn't normally treated until you are somewhere between 20-40 degrees. Since you are not at 20 degrees, you can be treated. A common treatment is a backbrace. There is also a surgical option.

A friend of mine used a brace for years and she had surgery when she was 17 and one of the curves in her back was just over 90 degrees and the other was just over 40 degrees

After surgery she gained several inches in height

The only problems she had was she had very little range of motion in her back but she had almost none before

One year after the surgery she was fooling around and she broke one of the rods in her back they say that never happens but it did for her and that was 19 years ago and she is still doing great

She said that the pain was better after the surgery and she loved that she was taller and could get rid of the brace

Adolescents wear a brace until their bones mature. To learn more about treatments see the Scoliosis.org link below.
