The reason I say there maybe a designer of the universe is that, based on the arguments i have heard, science does not know what caused the big bang.

Gazoo; thanks, that helps alot!
the argument i heard was;
'1. The universe began to exist
2. The universe has complexity, order and fine-tuning
3. Complexity, order and fine-tuning imply design
4. Design that began to exist implies a designer
5. Therefore, the universe has a designer'

A designer as complex as that could not just 'happen' and 'be there' there needs to be a designer to design the designer.

What is the Big Bang?

According to the big bang theory, the universe began by expanding from an infinitesimal volume with extremely high density and temperature. The universe was initially significantly smaller than even a pore on your skin. With the big bang, the fabric of space itself began expanding like the surface of an inflating balloon – matter simply rode along the stretching space like dust on the balloon's surface. The big bang is not like an explosion of matter in otherwise empty space; rather, space itself began with the big bang and carried matter with it as it expanded. Physicists think that even time began with the big bang. Today, just about every scientist believes in the big bang model. The evidence is overwhelming enough that in 1951, the Catholic Church officially pronounced the big bang model to be in accordance with the Bible.

Until the early 1900s, most people had assumed that the universe was fixed in size. New possibilities opened up in 1915, when Einstein formulated his famous general relativity theory that describes the nature of space, time, and gravity. This theory allows for expansion or contraction of the fabric of space. In 1917, astronomer Willem de Sitter applied this theory to the entire universe and boldly went on to show that the universe could be expanding. Aleksandr Friedmann, a mathematician, reached the same conclusion in a more general way in 1922, as did Georges Lemaître, a cosmologist and a Jesuit, in 1927. This step was revolutionary since the accepted view at the time was that the universe was static in size. Tracing back this expanding universe, Lemaître imagined all matter initially contained in a tiny universe and then exploding. These thoughts introduced amazing new possibilities for the universe, but were independent of observation at that time.

Why Do We Think the Big Bang Happened?

Three main observational results over the past century led astronomers to become certain that the universe began with the big bang. First, they found out that the universe is expanding—meaning that the separations between galaxies are becoming larger and larger. This led them to deduce that everything used to be extremely close together before some kind of explosion. Second, the big bang perfectly explains the abundance of helium and other nuclei like deuterium (an isotope of hydrogen) in the universe. A hot, dense, and expanding environment at the beginning could produce these nuclei in the abundance we observe today. Third, astronomers could actually observe the cosmic background radiation—the afterglow of the explosion—from every direction in the universe. This last evidence so conclusively confirmed the theory of the universe's beginning that Stephen Hawking said, "It is the discovery of the century, if not of all time."

Not all of us think Divinity is there at our beck and call. Don't you think all the poor hungry people pray for food? I believe that Divinity is merely that which has put order to the universe. I don't believe that It loves us in the sense that we want It to love us. If It did, bad things would only happen to bad people, and good things would only happen to good people. I believe prayer/spellwork (I don't see a difference) has a small chance of being heard and answered, but it depends on how much of -your own- energy you put into it.
I know Divinity doesn't care only about us, otherwise, animals would have to have jobs and pay taxes and everything as well. They are graced in the fact that they still live within the food chain.
I can't answer your question about Christians thinking their God made heaven and hell just for us, because I'm not a Christian. I think it's just that it's a xenophobic religion that doesn't want to share Heaven with people of different beliefs because that would turn it into a non-exclusive club, and that would be Hell for them.
Punishment and reward are based on Karma, everyone will have to pay off their sins.

Not only does science not know what caused the big bang, the big bang itself is only theory. Evolution is also theory. There are no facts backing up either of the theories. A fossil of ancient man is found, but does not speak. What it means is opinion only.

Now, this universe definately had a designer. There is no randomness in the way the planets interact. Neither is there any randomness in the way plants and animals, etc. interact to achieve this world we live in. It is an ordered world, and order implies intelligence.

I don't believe God created things like Heaven and Hell, to me they are the creations of man, nothing more. But yes, I believe God does care about us, all of us, world wide. God does interact with us, but we must learn to listen, not for rolling thunder, but for a small voice at unexpected moments.

Why do religious people (those that believe in a higher being anyway) have to install a belief that he listens to our problems on Earth? Answer: They have various reasons. Some believe this because they are religious, others believe it because they communicate with God.

Also, why do religious peopole believe that he only cares about our race; the human race? Answer: Because religions sometimes have some basis in facts.

Why do Christians think he would create a heaven and hell purely for us? Answer: Christians do not think that. (Keep in mind that "religious" and "Christian" can be two different things, even opposities.) Not sure who "he" is since you just said "higher being". Presumably you mean Almighty God. God lives in heaven, it was created for Him and His Angels. Those who follow God get to go to God. God created hell for Satan and his (fallen) angels. Those who follow Satan or his angels get to go there with him in spite of the fact the place was not created for them.

What would be his intentions in punishing and rewarding us? Answer: Correct, good, righteous, perfect justice, love, and mercy.

There may have been, but the lack of knowledge about something is not evidence for a god. Science still has a long way to go. And there will always be a line out there where our knowledge hasn't reached yet. That doesn't mean anything other than we haven't figured it out yet.

FYI: saying god is the cause, only begs the question "what is the cause of god?" You really didn't answer anything, just delayed the question.

Before you can answer this I think you have to decide where the creator of the universe lived to begin with. I think it's only then you can start deciding why we're here and what's beyond it and why. Good luck in finding out though because I don't know how you prove where some entity lived before there was anywhere to live!

Hell was made for the Devil and his angels not for humans. This was because the Devil (formerly known as Lucifer) rebelled against God and became prideful wanting to be worshiped instead of God. So logically, since people are also rebelling and some are full of pride, they are joining the Devil in hell by so doing.

God's purpose was to have man live on earth forever........Satan used man's freewill to choose a different life course..........God then promised a redeemer to set man straight again........Jesus taught his followers to pray for God's kingdom, a kingdom that would fix the problem and eventually man would be able to fulfils God's original purpose and that was for man to live on earth forever............that kingdom would be ruled by Jesus and 144,000 faithful ones that have died and was resurrected to heaven, to rule as kings and priest with Jesus for a thousand years.................that kingdom will prepare the earth for the billions of ones that died in the pass, righteous or unrighteous , and resurrect them to earth where they have to opportunity to live forever on earth.
