i got scratches from my dog two weeks ago before he was diagnosed of rabies...but at first i just thought it was just a simple case of poisoning that causes his seizures, so i still kept my dog until yesterday just after another petit seizure attack he's disoriented and jumped off from my fifth floor apartment...it was too late. is it possible that i'm infected even though he licked my face just the day before he died? is it possible that rabies can transfer to humans even before he manifest the early symptoms (like i got scratches two weeks before the symptoms)?

yes it is possible and you should have gotten a rabies vaccine as soon as you can. sometimes it moves fast within a week, a person could die from rabies. but rabies could also be dormant or inactive for a decade like one patient we had. she died of rabies but she wasn't bitten by a dog a month ago but ten years ago. rabies could be dormant for a while and asymptomatic. dont be scared yet. get vaccinated. get the 3 doses and a booster dose. that first dose will be given on your consultation day, the second 7 days after and the third 21 days after the second dose. :-) and the booster one years after your dose. if you haven't had symptoms for 2 weeks now then it is the dormant type but good news is you can still combat rabies in your system by completing your vaccination asap. also get tetanus injections. regardless of whether you have been infected with your dog or not.. i would advise you to still get the vaccinations anyway. better safe right?

Don't take any chances. Get anti rabies serum as well as vaccine. Get 5 doses of vaccine, on days 0,3,7,14 and 28.
