How to collect highlights in MS Word?

I was using a Univ. pc and under edit there was an option how to collect the highlighter lines, you could even choose the colour of the highlight but although I am using MS Office 2003 (similar to that of the Univ) I cannot find this option. Can anybody help please.

The highlighting option is usually on the Formatting toolbar and looks like a small 'chalk piece' with a default yellow line under it. If it is not available on your toolbar you can put it there by clicking on the Tools menu and choosing Customise.
Click on the Commands tab and on the left-hand side, under Categories, click on Format. Scroll through the Commands on the right-hand side until you can see Highlight.
Click and drag the button to your Formatting toolbar and close the Customise box.
The small drop-down arrow to the right of the button will give you more colour options.
