No. You must file an amended tax return.

Besides, A: if you include it next year, you'll probably lose money in the deal....and B: you'll get audited if you don't.

You will have to file an amended return because the IRS also gets a copy of the W-2 and will know that you received additional income. Depending on how much income that you receive, the IRS may decide to audit you and penalize you for under reporting your income.

You cannot include it in next years tax return.

File an amended return if you did not report some income.
Use Form 1040X

Don't list it next year or you will be taxed on it next year, and will likely be audited. Bad news all around.

I think that I myself would just let it go. BUT again since you could get into trouble I'd also have to give consideration as to how much we're talking about here. If it is a small amount then I am sure I'd let it go. If it is a larger amount I would be giving it more serious thought. I might even get guidance from a professional on the matter.
