I joined the Air Force and feel guilty about leaving! did anyone else go through this? I feel guilty over the guy i'm dating and his family(i'm scared to lose him). About my friends I'm leaving behind, and my church i won't be around to work in! And my neices and nephews i will see little of! I don't feel guilty about my family because i know they will be there not matter what! did anyone else feel this, or have an idea on why i might be experiencing it?

Hello! ms.jackso.
It appears as if you are going through a grief process.
Talk with the people involved let them know what you are going through and get it off your chest.
Once you clear it up this will help you.
Once you are up and away you will move forward.
The people that you care about will be waiting when you return .
Phillipians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanks giving let your requests be made known to God.
1 Peter 5:7 Casting all of your anxietys on God becayuse He cares for you.
You will not be forgotten because people will be upholding you in prayer.
Do the best job you can as unto the Lord He holds you in the palm of His hands.

Take care!

I am going through a comparable struggle right now as I am going into the coast guard in the next month. People in our situation just have to realize a couple things.

1. We have made a decision to take on a life where we must give up relationships, luxuries and contact with family and friends.

2. We are serving our country like so many before us and it is the greatest honor there is.

3. It is all worth it.

I have a girlfriend who I have been dating for three years and I love her with all my heart. But I have had to come to terms with the fact that once I go away for six years there is a good chance I may lose her forever and that is just a sacrifice I am going to have to make here. This is where I get comforted by the old mantra "let someone go and if they truely love you they will come back".

I think you might b feeling guilty because you're losing the chance that most people would try their best to attain it. Maybe you're afraid that people might say that you're ungrateful for dropping the one chance you've gained to become the 'defender of your beloved country'

well, i've never experienced leaving an Air Force but I hear a lot of my friends who're moaning to me about how guilty they are for leaving the college they attend and the piloting school they went to. so hard to get into (takes up so much time, money and energy), and yet it's as simple as that to leave.

pretty ungrateful, don't u think?
