Some medications will cause bleeding of the gums when you brush.

I am on Hydrocodone for Rheumatoid arthritis and is causes my gums to bleed,

One very effective and simple way to help heal them is to brush and mouth wash with HYDROGEN PEROXIDE. Recommended by my dentist years ago and I have always used it. It is at the drug store usually the bottom shelf next to rubbing alcohol. Use it at least twice a day. Good Luck, I hope this helps out.

how old are you? if you are old and maybe taking anticoagulants like heparin and coumadin as maintainance for some conditions then it could be causing the bleeding and your dosage may need to be adjusted. there are a lot of medications that have this side effect (gum bleeding), it could be aspirin, and many more. if you are taking any of these medications then consult your doctor. if you are not taking any of medications at the moment, then you must use soft-bristled toothbrush and use bactidol and swab it on your gums to minimize the inflammation. still you should consult a doc because there could be an underlying medical condition that may be causing it. you may have bleeding tendencies that need to be addressed.

have you been brushing too hard? if so, try brushing lighter or buy a soft toothbrush.
