Scientifically black and White are not a hues (color); both are often described as an "achromatic color";

Primary colors are red, blue, and yellow. In between those colors are the secondaries- made by mixing two primaries - violet, green, and orange.

So, if black and white must fit any of the three categories, it has to be the "abstract". They aren't really considered colors, but shades, and dark is the absence of light.

black is a tone and white is a combination of the 3 primary colours I think.

An old art teacher of mine used to say that black and white aren't colours - they're tones.

I was taught they are shades, not colours. If you look at light, white is all colours and black is no colour.
