I have two ways of going about it, actually.
1) If mom is too busy to help, kneel beside the bathtub and contort myself into weird positions as I try to rinse my hair under the low faucet (usually involves climbing halfway onto the side of the tub and leaning in). Not fun.
2) If mom isn't busy, have her wash my hair in the sink. It's much easier than trying to blindly maneuver the spray nozzle by myself.

There are two more ways to go about this, that I don't believe anyone has mentioned yet.
1) Don't wear the teeshirt, cause yeah, it'll get wet. Sit in your tub facing the side WITHOUT the faucet. Lather up with shampoo, lay down and stick your head under the faucet, so that it's just above the drain. Maybe get a gel pillow so that you do not have to keep your neck up the whole time, or just stick a wash cloth under your head. Just make sure you keep your eyes closed, and don't let the water run too high!!!
2) Buy a utility bucket from Wal-Mart or and all-purpose store, fill it with water, put it on a surface that's somewhat close to your head, and dunk your head back in it. Again, don't wear a teeshirt. You don't have to keep your head under the whole time, just do it over a sink so the water can be wiped up easily.
Good luck!

Buy a shower head that fits on bath taps, that's what i did,it's much better than washing your hair in the sink as it rinses all the shampoo out of your hair.

If you have a kitchen sink with a spray nozzle it would probably be a bit easier. If not then I'd say wash your hair in the sink immediately after you're done with your bath; you'll be wet anyway so they'll be no tshirt to get wet.

If you want to stand up while washing it, then wash it in your sink after your bath. If you want to sit down then you should just sit in your bathtub and wash your hair. Maybe you can use a basin full of water so you don't have to crouch down in the tub for the running water.

Using sink or bath tub- flip hair over face- wet hair- leave drain open- turn off water while lathering hair in shampoo( this reduces sud bubbles)- turn on water- rinse shampoo out- if using conditioner repeat steps replacing shampoo with cond- have towel nearby to wrap hair when done

I have a shower but love tub baths. I keep an extra large plastic drink cup in my tub caddy. I use it to rinse my hair, then lather on the shampoo, then lastly rinse with clear warm water with the cup. All done in the tub.
