Paint, Tin, Zinc and Plastic.
Why is mild steel coated with these materials??

mild steel can get corroded or rust can form on the surface. to avoid this the surface is painted/coated.

Hi aluminium is the cheapest metal but it does adhere to steel very well. the simple answer is the zinc or galvanised steel which is usually a dip, after the steel has been pickled in acid,to clean the surface. so what is the point as it has all been tried in the past.
