NORMAL- normal to loose 80-120 hairs daily. they grow back - not to worry.
so, about every 7 years or so you will have a 'new head of hair'. ask your mom what it was like when you were 7. i can almost bet you it was going thru a strange stage, then, too.
also, it's normal for the ends to be lighter than the roots. it's had more damage done (sun, wind, brush etc.) to it. the roots are darker because there's no movement. (light can't pass thru the hair)

Don't fret, it's probably perfectly normal. My mom -like most people on her side of the family- was born with very light blonde hair, but it had turned reddish-brown by the time she was in her mid-teens.

You could have a hormonal problem which makes your hair two toned. Chose the color you want it to be and dye it if it makes you uncomfortable. But make sure your mother understands what's going on first and explain to her how you feel.
