He loves them and they are good for his dental care. Should I worry about salmonella though?

Yes, giving cats and dogs raw chicken is perfectly safe. The calcium in the bones is readily absorbed by your pet and the meat is pretty tastey too (so they tell me). Cooking the bones separates the bone and causes it to become brital. This is when bones are dangerous. Ensure you begin giving your cats chicken wings early as my two cats are so spoilt they can't be bothered chewing but my pup, absolutely loves chicken/turkey necks and wings. They are a cheap alternative too. When it's hot I give my puppy frozen ones, she gets a chew, and icy pole and food all at once!

Raw chicken wings are a great idea. Raw bones are not dangerous for your cat - whoever saw a wild cat barbequing his mouse over a fire. It is the cooked bones that splinter.

I always chop the wings into about three pieces. For a completely balanced meal add a small amount of raw chicken liver and some chicken hearts and gizzards. You will have lean muscle meat in the wings, a little fat from the skin, plus the bone for calcium, the liver is rich in Vitamin A which is something the cat cannot make in its body and needs to get from its food, the heart and gizzard are rich in taurine, an amino acid important for the cat and also something he must have from his food. Use only a small amount of liver as Vitamin A is not water-soluble and excess amounts of the liver can damage the cat's liver.

If you don't feed meat from chicken free of antibiotics and hormones you won't be doing your cat any favors. Contamination from those things is much worse than any possible bacterial contamination. It is GROUND meat that you need to be wary of. Huge amounts of meat are put through grinders daily and one small contamination can be spread through many pounds of ground meat because the grinders are not cleaned well enough to prevent this and makes a perfect medium for reproduction of the bacteria.

Meat in chunks will have only small amounts of contamination if any. Cats' stomachs are more acidic than human ones and their intestinal tracts are much shorter than ours. They can handle small amounts of bacteria without problems.

I was told you can give them raw chicken wings but I feed my cats dry cat food such as whiskas with dental protection plus vita bites, and they haven't had any problems with their teeth. These biscuits are designed to prevent build up of plaque and tartar so really it does the same thing in protecting their teeth and they come in different flavours and for different age groups ect. As for your question about selmonella if he likes chicken you would probably be better of boiling the meat and letting him eat that but not cooked bones they can cause problems in the stomach.

No raw chicken for anyone human or animal. And chicken bones can splinter in a dogs or cats throat causing them to chock. Treat kitty to cooked chicken removing the bones first.

YUCK! And imo irresponsible. Those bones can cause a lot of damage to the intestines. Chicken bones are a LOT bigger than a sparrow's bones.

Don't know if cats can get salmonella poisoning or not, but I would definitely not chance it. There are plenty of products out there that are good for dental hygene.

do a yahoo search on the barf diet, not kidding, it stands for bone and raw food, it is supposed to be good, but I think you have to prepare it right or buy it from certain sources. My worry would be that supermarket meat is meant to be cooked because it is handled at high speed in sanitary but less than ideal conditions.

Look up raw foods for pets. My brother feeds his dogs raw (NEVER cooked- they splinter) chicken necks.

Just worry about salmonella on your end when prepping the meal, be careful and wash your hands and all surfaces.
