If you are on patrol in your beat area, you already know the other officers on your shift working the beat with you. So I don't know this officer? I'm going to ask him why he is on my beat. I don't like his answer, then I radio dispatch and ask them why this officer is on my beat. They don't know either? This officer is going to show me some identification and I'm calling my supervisor.

A person posing as an officer is a huge threat to citizens. I would without hesitation say hey I'm officer ******** I don't think I have met you let me see your papers. All officers get a certificate looking thing from their agency whether it is Police Sheriff or any federal agency that has a picture ID and all legit officers are required to carry it while on duty and most carry it while off duty in case something like UTAH MALL SHOOTING happens.

Years in the past Police corruption became rampant,or perhaps right this moment in some considerable city city's the proportion of cheating officers could be rather bigger (yet nevertheless very minimum) i finished my short 7 twelve months occupation in regulation enforcement interior the mid 80's while issues have been run a lot looser than by utilising right this moment's standards and a crooked cop could desire to escape with a lot greater. even then i might could desire to declare that i will in hassle-free terms think of of two-3 men that I knew who could have tried something like this. I truthfully have self assurance that around ninety seven.5 % of all officers might take the perfect action. any Officer who might possibility their job, occupation, regulation enforcement certification, pension and acceptance for a small sum of money like this is a fool. i'm below no circumstances disputing the different posters declare of fifty%, i'm specific that in the time of his branch and era, this became achievable.

It's so easy to know. In small departments everyobdy know each other. So it's very easy to spot a phony. In large departments everybody knows each other in their assigned district. So again it's very easy to spot a phony. When you spot a phony these are the things you will do.

1. Radio him in
2. Wait for assisting unit to arrive. If he's not an immediate threat to the public at the time.
3. Make contact with him
4. Arrest him

Well, I would strike up a conversation with him. Introduce yourself and get his name and his badge number while you are talking. Then you can run these to see if it is all legit. I would be discreet just in case he is a real police officer.
