I kept finding rubber bouncy balls and catnip toys and candy wrappers and all kinds of crap in my shoes. Then one day I watched my kitten, Skeeter He was the one putting it all in my shoes. I think it's strange behavior for a cat. When he starts hunting for real am I going to step into a dead mouse or something.?

Your cat thinks that you are the "cat's meow" and so she is showing you what she is sharing with you.

Cats in the wild bring their young food to eat and they bring them things to play with. Although you see her as your kitty child, she sees you the same way.

You two must be incredibly bonded. She is showing you such a huge compliment, sharing things inside your shoe.

:)

I would start checking your shoes before putting them on as it is possible that the kitty will leave "gifts" for you in the shoe. My cats leave toys and hair ties in my shoes all the time. No need to be concerned, this is normal behavior for a cat.
Good luck

My cat likes to put milk rings, toy mice, and other stuff in my shoes. If you have an indoor cat, the cat, if it kills mice, will leave the mouse where you can find it. My cat has done this a few times.

My cats used to take great pleasure in taking their toy mice and soaking them in the water bowl and then stuffing the mice into my shoes, leaving a cold, wet surprise for me in the morning. It's normal...and mine have barfed on a few of my shoes and shredded the laces too. It's just part of owning a cat.
If you allow your cat to hunt live animals, do not scold him when he brings you a "present". It's a sign of love. Just hope he doesn't hide it from you!

my cat often did that too, i would find all of his toys and even some pieces of food in my shoes (gross). my vet told me it was because it seemed "safe" to the cat to stash his stuff and to keep it "organized". I thought it was wierd too. What i did was i gave one pair of shoes to him (he put moist food in them...eww) and kept my other good shoes on a shelf he couldn't reach in my closet, or would hide the shoes under blanket, etc. he still often keeps stuff in those shoes and he never loses toys cuz of it. For the dead mice question... not sure. my cat always put it at the foot of my bed or on my porch, but seemed to always keep them away from the shoe... I would just suggest checking your shoes before putting them on!! good luck!

yes my little puppy used to do the same he even hid my grandpa's dentures once so the vet advised us to give him his very own old shoe, it should be a worn shoe of the master. let the baby feel that this is something she owns and is only hers. u too give her something, which may not harm her ofcourse, and u yourself put it in her shoe, just see the joy that follows. my puppy used to keep my hair clips, even 50 p coins everything, but the trick worked and everytime a known visitor used to come my puppy used to show off her shoe with the contents, but was very possesive dare anyone would touch it.. hope this helps.

This is normal for cats. Mine both like to put their paper balls in my shoes or under the bed. It's their way of stashing stuff.

My cat Bobby who died last year used to put milk jug rings into my shoes. He loved those things. He never put any life animals in there but he didn't hunt much either.
