I have a few ideas already but I'll offer two. First of all any religion that would break a commandment would appear to be a false religion. Catholics break the 2nd which is "Thou shall not make unto Thee any graven image" that means posters, postcards, sculptures, paintings, any image depicting the likeness of GOD which includes the image of JESUS since he is of GOD and is GOD in human form is blasphemy. Yes Michael Angelos painting of the sistene chapel although beautiful is still breaking that commandment since we don't know what GOD or JESUS looks like. Secondly, the reverence to the holy mother by praying to her is erroneous and will not constitute favor with GOD for JESUS is the way and all prayers must go through HIM when praying to the LORD which is why all prayers must include the phrase , In the LORD'S name I pray, amen. selah. Mother Mary should be revered and cherished but not be given some form of honor above or equal to JESUS for to do that would diminish HIS status.Amiwrong

Imagery of any kind will surely fall under the guise of idolatry. I know many people use symbols to show their faith, but if you were truly faithful your actions would be your garment not forms of idols involving crosses, fishes, rosary beads etc. The true church of Christ would not be inconsistent with biblical teachings nor hypocritical in it's practices. Let the onslaught of your views commence....and may GOD bless each and everyone of you! This is merely an attempt to get you to investigate your own belief to either support or deny the validity of these statements not just offer opinion. If I am wrong prove it, don't state it for to do so without proof benefits no one.
May GOD bless each and everyone of you!

You are absolutely and totally wrong.

Jesus has always been proclaimed as God and Savior in the Catholic Church. His status is in no jeopardy there, especially when contrasted with that of his mother Mary, or any of the other saints/creatures.

Your beliefs are faulty, and they are obviously based on the false teachings of those who came before you, and/or taught you.

Jesus is himself a flesh image of God, a heavenly thing. Do your misguided beliefs in outdated commandments, prohibit us from worshipping him?

You say ALL prayers must go through Jesus. Where exactly is that spelled out for us in scripture? Jesus personally gave us and recommended the Lord's Prayer, and NEITHER of your requirements are mentioned there.

You obviously assume facts that are not in evidence,or in scripture. Where did they come from?

Jesus Christ founded the Church, which has been known as Catholic since 107 AD, and it was he who personally promised to bless it and keep it, and to stay with it, until the end of the age. He never gave these assurances to any other group or organization.

You can choose to believe your mistaken impression about keeping the outdated and temporary laws of the old covenant, or you can wake up and take a very close look at the eternal and God-given truths that are only fully revealed and fully present within the Catholic and universal Church of the NEW covenant.

Ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten you on these matters. And please tell him that I sent you.

As a former ignoramus protestant, i can attest to these same silly questions. the graven image commandment in context refers to objects that become objects of worship as if they are Gods. catholics have never worshiphed iconography, statues or the crucifix.

The bible- alone doctrine is man made since even the bible doesnt say it is the "spirit and ground of the truth" It says rather that The Church is. (2 timothy)And who is the head of that church on earth. Peter. Jesus says you are peter and on this rock I will build my church. And i will give you the keys to heaven and earth. Keys mean authority to teach about heaven and earth.

the bible constantly refers to the apostles as peter and the apostles. peter means rock

>>Catholics break the 2nd which is "Thou shall not make unto Thee any graven image" that means posters, postcards, sculptures, p... any image depicting the likeness of GOD which includes the image of JESUS since he is of GOD and is GOD in human form is blasphemy.<<

Here is what it says -- "You shall not make for yourself a graven image, OR ANY LIKENESS OF ANYTHING that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth" (Exodus 20:4).

If Catholics are breaking this commandment, so are non-Catholics. I've never been in the home of a non-Catholic that didn't have a likeness of something in heaven, earth, or water. Be it a little animal figurine, a package of food with a picture of the contents, or a photograph of their grandmother, it was always something.

As praying to Mary, "pray" means to entreat or implore, "to make a request in a humble manner", or "to address God or a god with adoration, confession, supplication, or thanksgiving". Since the Bible says we should "pray for one another" (James 5:16), we pray (implore) Mary to pray (address God) for us and with us. If you examine the "Hail Mary", you will notice we ask Mary to "pray FOR us".

All so-called Christianity is wrong. All those who claim to be "Christians" seem to ignore the teachings of Christ and wallow in bigotry, intolerance and hatred. There are dozens of questions and responses in here every day that prove my point.

Catholics worship their god as they see fit; Baptists worship their god as they see fit; so do Jews, Muslims, Quakers, Hindus etc etc etc. Lots of different gods to be worshipped in lots of different ways.

Why don't you just get on with your own life and worship your own god in your own way and leave other people to do the same? It is none of your business who they worship or how they do it.

By the way, anything you say that proves to you that someone else's religion is wrong can be used against you to show that yours is wrong too.

well i left the catholic church because i felt that they were taken away from the bible and put more trust in there pope and higherarche of the church. Also I was disturbed by all the artistes interpritations of what Jesus might have looked so that breaks commandment 2 (which you already said.) and that the praying to Mary is better then praying to Jesus because they say that Jesus wouldnt deny his mother and in the bible it said "ask in My name and you will be saved" and Jesus said that not Mary and even if she did it wouldnt matter

You are wrong. first, with the spelling. It's Catholicism, not Catholicism. All Christian demoninations originated in Catholicism, which is founded by Jesus Himself. Who founded your sect? Luther? Wesley?

Godhead as a three in one/one in three trinity
Transubstantiation
Infallibility of Pope
Celibate Priesthood
Statues
Spanish Inquisition
Jesuits
Opus Dei

Need I say any more?

All their doctrine seems to have been diluted and morphed since the days of Christ.

"Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church"

The comma should be a semi colon. And this verse should be taken in conjunction with the preceding verses:

"Peter, lovest thou me?"
"Thou knowest I do"
"Feed my lambs/sheep"

It is upon the principle of the good shepherd that Christianity is founded, not some bloke called Peter!
