Do you straighten or blowdry it? Cause if you do that could be your problem, heat causes the hair to dry out and become dull and full of split ends. I have a relaxer, I don't really try to get my hair really straight, I like the body and shine of my slightly frizzy locks. I wrap my hair while its wet to get it straighter. It works, it just doesn't get it bone straight. Weaves can damage the hair, especially if you glue them in. The glue causes the hair to break off and even the sew ins can cause stress on already weakend hair. If you're going to wear a weave then you really don't need a relaxer, that is if you opt for a sew in, your hair would be healthier if you left it natural with a sew in. Do you use hair grease? This could be another problem because hair grease doesn't moisturize the hair at all, it coats the hair shaft and repells moisture, it also can clog the pores of your scalp and cause hair thinning. Any product with mineral oil or petroleuem in it isn't a moisturizing product. I use water based oil lotions and oils, like Profectives and Hollywood Beauty products. I used to use Dark and Lovely relaxers, but recently switched to Organics Root Stimulator, Dark and Lovely isn't the best perm it left my hair underprocessed, it didn't take. If you have coarse hair that doesn't take properly to relaxing maybe you need to deep condition it five days before you get your perm to soften the hair, also you don't want to perm hair that hasn't been washed in a long while, it doesn't take too well on hair that hasn't been shampooed within a week, too many products built up on hair and scalp create a sort of barrier against the chemicals working properly. To make your hair shiny you need to invest in a good hair cream and a bottle of oil, maybe a bottle of spray on leave in conditioner.

Umm liike she said...Ditch the weaves and the chemicals. Weave if glued in will weakin the roots and pull it out. Chemicals will destroy the hair cuticle and cause the hair not grow as fast. Try braids, not tight ones, and use natural hair oils and stay away from hot hair stylers(curlers/flat iron) these thing are not very good with our type of hair.A great style would be Dreads easy to take care of. Or two strand twist, like dreads but dont lock if take care of them and get them redone every few weeks. #1 tip!! Moisterize....hair grease is a black girls best friend!!

Ceramic Straightner, IC Polish, and wrap it and night thats what i do n it never fails.
After you was your hair Put some heat protectant like IC Polish and spray some olive oil sheen spray onto your hair so that its protected when you blow dry it. The IC Polish should help it blow straight its very good and not greasy. When your hair is dry use a good Ceramic Straightner as ceramic coated irons are really good and they protect the hair and as the Polish is still in your hair it glides through easily leaving your hair silky straight - works for me everytime and on my lil sis who has coarse hair which sounds like yours.
Ceramic Straightner, IC Polish, and wrap it and night thats what i do n it never fails.
At night wrap your hair around your head and put a doo rag on which should hold your style till the next day. do this everynight you want your hair to stay silky straight ok? it does get annoying sometimes n sometimes u just wanna go to bed but trust me its worth it.

You can use lot of home-made remedies that can not only promote hair growth, but make them look shiny and healthy. •Aloe very is among the best super foods that help faster hair growth. It not only makes your hair grow faster, but also makes it thicker and healthier. •Brush your curls gently and carefully using brush having soft bristles. Avoid brushing your hair when they are wet, and if possible use broad tooth comb, as otherwise you may end up damaging your hair. •Apply egg yolk directly on your scalp and then massage it gently. You should continue massaging it for about an hour and wash it off using water. It is one of the best remedy for growing healthy hair. •Massage using lavender oil and olive oil on your hair, and leave it as such for about an hour before washing it off.

I think your hair is dry that is why it is not relaxed and maybe frizzy too. The first step that you need to take is massage your hair with olive oil daily and wash it off in the morning. it will condition your hair and make it much more relaxed and manageable.

My best friend is black, and she complains that it's hard to make her hair straight and shiny, but it always looks perfect. She uses the Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine products, and she says they work great. She also uses a ceramic hair straightener.

Stop trying for the straight and shiny look. It's not us. Ditch the chemicals...and the extensions. Go for the natural look. It doesn't take very long for your hair to grow long and beautiful looking.
Check out my Avatar...My hair is very similar...Isn't it beautiful?
Dreads are us!
