I have struggled with my beliefs for a while now. And I am comming to the conclusion that religion is just a cope out. When something cannot be explained, religion seems to be the "answer". What happens when we die? We dont know so we have created religion of all kinds to assure us we wont disappear. As our knowledge of technology has progressed the essence of god has been squandered. Thousands of years ago god was much more prevelant and needed, so stars fire death sun disease etc could have some type of answer. Im sorry if this is not explained very well im really tired but any other views on this i would love to read, i am still searching for my beliefs

Religion is a God of The Gaps so to speak. It was created to explain that which at the time had no mundane explanation. For example people of the Hellenistic era believed that a god named Helios pulls the sun across the sky with his chariot and this creates night and day. The Norse people believed that thunder and lightning were caused by Thor wielding his massive hammer. These explanations sufficed until new discoveries were made.

Today however we know that the earth itself is revolving as it makes it's way around the sun and this causes night and day. We also know that thunder and lightning are caused by cold and hot air fronts meeting eachother. Thus the gap has closed and we have no more need for Thor and Helios. Countless other religions have fallen by the wayside too as knowledge increased.

Lindsey: Yes - as a Christian, I can assure you that religion both, present and past, cops out and does invent what we cannot explain. Science leans towards that end, also. The problem you are encountering is with the reality and relevance of God for you and your life. What, I might suggest for you, is to apply your efforts in the direction of establishing a relationship with God, the Father, through SPIRITUALITY. Spirituality, based on relationship, runs against the "grain" of religion. Spirituality promotes trans-formation of the mind; whereas, religion promotes con-formation. One is Internally centered - the other is externally centered . This spiritual relationship is attained to by Jesus Christ, via the Holy Spirit and will truly satisfy your "thirst" for life's purpose. More Jesus and Less Religion !!! Hope this supplies you with some direction, Lindsey !

THE BIBLE IS NOT RELIGION

The bible explains every thing we need to know. 1000 religions? What's wrong?
WHEN WILL PEOPLE GET WISE?

John 8:32; 17:17; The truth is the truth.

We had a life sustaining earth, it was sacificed to save Noah's family from him to the 1000 year reign of Christ, so as imperfect in sin before the flood, they still came near to living a perfect day for God at 1000 years, but with the life sustaining earth LOST,
the earth and all that can develope in it [ as cancer from sun ], is dangerous and the already short life of troubles, can be made bad to worse any time and death can happen to any at any age. WE HAVE THEIS SEED, the promise is salvation for it.

You are correct. Religions were (and still are) created to control people and get some of their money, and try to give explanations for things. The development of science provides answers to most things on a more founded basis.

Can you imagine shat kind of sh*t would hit the fan if for example the pope were to come out an tell the truth that the whole thing is a scam, but thanks for the nice pad & popemobile?!!

Religion is the biggest scam ever!

"Where we come from" is a very minor point in religion. The central message of Christianity is not where we come from or what the afterlife is, but on redemption from sin and living a righteous life. Despite the increase in technology, never can society say that an afterlife doesn't exist or that we are not held accountable to our deeds.
