I was in a car accident. I was sitting, stationary, waiting for lighst to change when someone hit me from behind, which pushed me into the car in front. The woman who hit me is paying for damage to my car, but the car in front of me was also damaged and they have sent me the quote to pay for their damage. The accident was fully the fault of the driver behind me, shouldnt she be responsible for both cars that were damaged?!

The rule regarding the middle car (you) in this situation varies by state. Call your insurance company immediately. Either way, it shouldn't come out of your pocket (except for maybe your deductible); this is what insurance is for.

The woman who hit you is responsible for your damage. You are responsible for the damage to the car you hit. Just turn it in to your insurance and let them handle it.
You may wonder why it is your fault when you were pushed into the vehicle. Because under the law, you are responsible for your vehicle and any damage it does to property for any reason. You were stopped too close to the car in front of you would be one argument used.

Hi this is a tough question .. This happen to me once many years ago . My insurance fixed the car in front of me . That my car was pushed into .. Suggestion: get a police report call or see your insurance agent in person . State your case also put it in writing and summit it along with the police report .. Then it will be up to the insurance company's to hash it out .. And believe me no insurance company wants to pay out ... good luck

I'm no lawyer but I think you will find you are responsible. The arguement is you should have been stopped far enough behind the other vehicle so you could hit the brake and stop before hitting the person in front. It is a stupid law like half the "politically correct" stuff around now.

If the woman who hit you is paying for both your front and rear damage, then she is admitting she caused both and is responisible for the car in front as well.
If she is disputing it (saying you hit that car first), then you could both be liable. Direct the owner of the car in front of you to the cause of the accident and see if she will pay it. If not, then you need to get insurance companies involved.

Yes, your accident report will show who is the responsible party. The accident will go on your driving record however. It doesn't matter who was at fault for the accident, just the fact that you were in an accident.
