you are gonna hurt him no matter what. But if you are not happy, it is best to move on

It does not matter what you say, you are going to hurt him, if are not happy, tell him ,if it is something he is doing, then tell him and give him a chance to fix it( if you still love him that is), if you don't then break it off with him, tell him you are not happy and don't feel the same way about him anymore and you want to end the relationship.

Have the "communicate" with him on the subject of ways you sense and see how he reacts. in the journey that your not happy, this guy or the subsequent won't in any respect make you happy, you are able to make you happy. not some dude. What you % is somebody with whom you have issues in undemanding with the guy. take excitement in being spending time with them, doing the comparable issues, have comparable pastime are a plus. sturdy luck.

Maybe he's as unhappy as you? Try saying, "This isn't working for me anymore. I'm sorry for any pain I'm causing you, but I want to break up with you."
