like when people say "Dont mind what other people think" (or variations of that saying)
if i didnt care what others thought of me, i wouldnt have a job, id probably get kicked out of school, would probably have no friends or really weird ones.
or how about "there is someone for everyone" (and other variations of that too.
i mean come on, is that just for inspiration?
post some of the sayings you hear but can't really fully believe. be harsh, but dont be too harsh.

..as a collector of sayings,believe me(depends on you),it can make your life colorful and you always feel you're on the right track..they're worth collecting..sayings help me with my decisions..they are words of wisdom because they came from the mouths of people who have experiences..you can try reaqding and understanding some and you'll soon discover the brighter side of life..it might be a little old fashioned,but i belive in these words of wisdom..

"that you may retain your self respect,it is better to displease the people by doing what you know is right than to temporarily please them by doing what you know is wrong"

Sayings came to be because there are "certain truths" to them.
"Don't mind what other people think", well of course it matters but if you let it define you, defeat you, or if you try to please everyone, you'll never be happy because you're not being true to yourself, so there is a certain "degree of truth" to that saying, as there is in all other sayings.
They are merely meant to be ponderings and inspirational and "food for thought".
"Act the way you want to be and soon you'll be the way you act" was one of my favs.
Mind you it's meant to be inspirational and motivational and not meant to say that an apple can be a pear, just that if you believe in yourself and with assertion, you can be the person you want to be.

The one i dont i understand Is "better to be hung for a sheep,than as for a lamb" I mean weres the sense in that. Im not gonna steal sheep or lambs =/

Most of those are not harsh but more reality, Like there are no guarentees in life and it's best to live for today because tomorrow never comes and you are a long time dead..
I dont know if youve heard any of those but they are true.

a philosopher's philosophy does not work when he himself encounters it!!!!.........everything in this world...what has happened ...what is happening and what is yet to happen has been already decided by god. god has laid the path to walk on...just make sure you wear your best shoes!
