How to get a shy girl to open up and be approachable?

Ok, first thing's first, we're both in high school (seniors) I drive to school everyday and she gets dropped off. We don't know each other at all but we see each other almost everyday. We both walk up the side of the school to the parking lot to get go home (she gets picked up). I always get out first and start heading to the parking lot. I have this feeling that she wants to talk because she usually catches up to me and slows down to walk behind me. She is the really really quiet type, the kind who don't start conversations, are set in their schedules, and if you were to talk to her, she'd probably freak that somebody noticed her. How do I go about striking up a conversation with her? She is really really pretty but I think she feels insecure for some reason. How do I try to get her to break out of her shy barrier? I'm kinda quiet myself so bear with me =) Any conversation starters for a shy girl? Thanks.

p.s. her parents are usually waiting so I don't have much time to work with.

Well, I'm a shy girl myself, and usually guys joke around with me when they want to start a conversation with me. If you get her laughing, she'll probably be able to open up to you and feel comfortable with you. So yea, try joking around with her or do a lil innocent teasing or something.

Just start out slow everyday. Give her a compliment and don't wait for a response. Ask her how she is doing?Stop dead in your tracks, turn around and say hi.If she is the type you say, she will think about it everyday when she goes home and eventually she will speak back to you. You never know until you try.

hey that girl sounds like me! haha.. i'm that type too.. shy until people get to know me and stuff and am insecure. my guess is if she does catch up and slow down to walk closer to you, that she definitely has an interest in you. i'm pretty sure she likes you.. that's how we do! ;) haha. well, you already know what you need to do.. you just need to start talking to her. just go up next to her and say hi and ask how she's doing.. just make small talk. but don't just start asking a whole bunch of questions that will make her uncomfortable.. because with me i hate being asked a bunch of personal questions and like the guys to do most the talking to take the ease away at first.. so then she can feel like she can open up more to you later. just ask how her day at school was... if you have any classes with her then you can talk about those classes. if you have a good sense of humor, then you can say some charming thing to get conversations going.. that always works for me. just be yourself man, and let whatever comes come. just start small at first like a bunch of heys, hi's, and how are ya's, and stuff like that. and if it's almost the weekend you can ask if she has any fun plans. ask stuff about school.. what her favorite class is. i don't know what else to tell ya, cuz that's all you can really do, especially considering you don't have much time to talk to her. but then once you talk to her for awhile, start Flirting with her, give her more compliments, smile.. and such.. and then eventually if you are asking if she has fun plans for the weekend ask if she'd like to do something with you.. or for example if there is a good movie out you want to see, then ask if she wants to see that movie, or ask if there is any movies you'd want to see.. and then once she tells you one you can ask her if she'd like to see it with you. something like that. or just ask for her phone number, cuz then you can talk to her on the phone.. giving you more time to talk. that would be best in my opinion.. that's how guys always start it with me.. just ask for my number. cuz i'm sure she will feel special getting asked that and have a confidence boost, especially if she likes you.. which it sounds like she kinda has a crush on you forming. so Good Luck and best wishes to you!! :)
