Flying domestic..anyone know if I can put food in Checked baggage (couple of small energy drinks, Ensure, store bought cookies, couple nutrition bars)

Also I have a metal purse (made out of a stop sign)..will it be safer with me or in checked baggage? It's original and quite unusual and I love it to death and I don't know if I should risk taking it with me (in carry on) and risk it being taken away..

Re the sandwich, it would be best to take the ingredients and make the sandwich on the plane. I know, it sounds weird, but substances have to be under 3 oz. and carried in the one-quart bag. (Or just buy one at the airport after going through security.)

Checked baggage, food is OK, although if you have liquids they should be packed carefully and in waterproof, sealed bags. You can also carry food onto the plane and it usually won't be considered as part of your carry-on limit.

Anything that is valuable to you should be taken on the plane with you--or ship it to your destination. In the case of a metal purse, however, it could be considered a weapon and would probably be taken from you. Call your airline for further info.

Just leave all food behind because I think you are only allowed to carry up to 100 ml liquids even for domestic. The things that are sharp, better to put it in the check-in bag to be rest assured that your things won't be thrown away. For your food, I think if you are travelling on a low cost airline, just bring it but place it somewhere they cannot see and if it is not, just check in your food. Anyway, the airlines gives out free snacks. I hope this helps.

I don't know the answer to your question, but things were stolen from my friend while they were in checked baggage, so that's not safe either. And what does that say about security?

We took all kinds of stuff in our checked baggage that wasn't allowed in the plane. You can put your things in the checked baggage, and you should be okay providing they do not lose your luggage. lol
