A homemade cornbread and a good green salad would go perfect with your main meal red beans and rice w/ sausage. Sounds good. YOu don't need the steak like that person said.
YOu got your protein with the beans and sausage.

Cornbread is what most people and restaurants in New Orleans serve with Red Beans and Rice, partly because it's perfect and partly out of tradition. Oh, and the traditional day to eat it is Monday, just as an fun fact. This is because that was laundry day and it was something easy to cook for a long time while preoccupied with washtubs, ironing, etc. Many restaurants will still have it as a special on Mondays.

Cornbread is the traditional accompaniment for red beans and rice but we put the sausage and meat into the beans and cook it with the beans, avocado salad or regular salad.

Slices of cold, raw jimica, red radish and sweet Cherry tomatoes. I like to keep them all cold. Keeps the radish and jimica snappy. The cherry tomatoes make a nice burst of sweetness between bites of red beans and rice.

Cornbread with jalapenos in it. Or just plain cornbread. Okra would be good too.
