Catholics believe that the Church is divinely protected from error. That whole "infallibility" thing isn't really a cherry-pick - they have a specific set of circumstances in which it applies, and it's pretty limited. I don't accept it myself, but it's not stupid (I mean, the Jesuits accept it, for Heaven's sake) and it's not "satanic".

Anyone who accepts the fact that the old testament prophets, the old testament high priests, the writers of the old testament, and the writers of the new testament, could act infallibly when under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, should have no trouble with the leader of the universal, new covenant Christian church doing the same thing.

No they're not following Satan. I don't ge the whole Pope thing either, but I am amazed at how faithful so many of my Catholic friends are. In the face of criticism, priest scandals etc... they remain faithful to our Father in Heaven and strive to do good things for others. I think they are amazing - even though I don't get the whole Pope thing.

That's all true, but you are forgetting another problem: Protestants. They have some messed up leaders, like John Calvin. Did you know that Calvin had several people burned at the stake (historical evidence) when they deviated from his teachings?

It says in the Bible that there will be many false prophets who will decieve many people. I believe that catholicism is one of the most popular of all these. Any church, leader, doctrine or person that preaches in the name of God, but takes away from the word or adds to the word,; falls into the catagory of false prophet. If you want to know the truth, read the Bible for you own self. God is speaking to you- not someone else to intepret for you. It is very wise to question every person who claims to bring you the word of God. What they say should be in direct alignment with the scripture. If it is not, then dont believe it.

I apologize to any devoted Catholics who read this. Having been brought up Catholic, I know the reverence felt towards the Pontiff. However, ignorance is not bliss and backfires eventually.
