Some third world countries do not have pretty churches with soft pews and conveniences (i.e. indoor bathrooms)-and they sit on the ground, stand for hours, and/or sit on rough boards-i.e. in Africa as I have read about and yet they are so eager to hear the gospel of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ that they don't give it a second thought(discomfort, that is)-

We are spoiled and if that is the only way you will attend a church, doesn't that tell YOU something?

LOL ! They're probably as hard as they are to keep us awake when the preacher is preachin !

Seriously though (having been involved in a few Church planting faith adventures) it just might be that the budget of a fledgling church has something to do with it.
Anyway, please don't let the lack of a comfortable pew keep you away. I can assure you that there are plenty of churches out there that actually do have comfortable ones.

Hey ! God Bless !

must be a while since you've been. Most have padded pews, some are like movie theatre chairs. Walking tracks, basketball teams, Super Bowl night, movies, parties, game night, aerobics, child care, etc.

It actually could have to do with brainwashing. Creating physical discomfort while being preached at about Hell. This is actually a true tactic in coercion pretty effective as well. Although my description hardly gives it justice

catholic churches yes... but if you are one of the rich people who can afford to spend money in their churches, some of them have theater quality acoustics and chairs.
