the sore could have come from anything - a sharp object on the ground, an insect bite, an injury from a cat fight. If it becoes abcessed (and I suspect it will), you need to take the cat to the vet for antibiotics.

How about you let a vet tell you? Good method, eh? Btw, first check and see if it's an open wound or not. If it's open then it's most likely not a bite at all. You can apply neosporin and clean it just like you'd do to a human. But beware, I know that dogs love to lick the neosporin right off. So maybe wrap it up or keep him under surveillance.

take it to the vet!!!! my mom told my little sister that what looked like a spider bite would just heal up so she didnt take it to the vet within a few days the bite started to open up and the poor kitty died ='(

If your cat has a "bad looking sore", does it matter what we say it is or what you think it is? He needs to be seen by a vet to treat whatever it is - BEFORE it gets worse.
