tsnyunt please do not speak of they scriptures as if they were fact. They could be the word of god or they could have been written by a few people that saw a world in chaos and thought they need to fear an all mighty and live by curtain rules. This is a hypothetical question please do not take it so literally like you do the bible.

Probably. But the person that found it would likely take the original and alter it in a way that fits with how he wants society to function, gain a multitude of followers and use them to start a new civilization based on his religion. Then this civilization would split into two groups, one that believes the book word for word and the other who interprets it. And a third group, the "non believers" would succeed from them both and start their own country that would then war with the others and they would all kill each other off!!! Humanity, as a whole, is stupid!!

You misunderstand the nature of the "bible". The current "holy" Bible came to us through various languages, authors, editors etc. The audit trail is historically clear. This is unlike the formation of the Book of Mormon or the Koran, which is more closely as you had described as found since both were delivered by a god to a prophet.

You never know. I've often wondered the same thing about the Lord of the Rings. Of course nowadays novels have disclaimers on the publication data page usually saying the book is a work of fiction so no one gets confused.

Depending on who found this book, yes, this book would become the "new bible". You see; the word "bible" originates from the Greek word "Bibilos", which translates into the word, "book". In this sense of the word "bible" - King's bible would become the "new bible".

No, but it would serve as an interesting allegory, as to mankind knowing they were on a path to self destruction. It's like knowing you shouldn't throw rocks inside of a glass house.. Yet you keep doing it, in fear that someone else is going to bop you with a rock you haven't tossed yourself.

1) I don't know what "The Stand" is about.
2) "Bible" is the term for a Christian holy book. I doubt if any new religion started 1000 years from now, they would name their holy book the "Bible".
