The first thing you do,unless you know the law is to hire a lawyer to represent you.The first step in the process is to file the paperworks with the court, after the court fees have been paid, the case is put on the docket schedule to be heard.

The best advice is to contact an attorney....

You can speek with the Prosecutor, D.A., Solicitor or whatever your state calls the prosecuting authority. Most areas offer some kind of victims restitution which may include medical bills, expenses, etc. (but not punative). You can ask for the "Victim's Rights Advocate" in many areas.

Hope this helps.

It sounds like your expenses are too large to go to small claims court. Contact a personal injury lawyer.

Sound s like a case any lawyer would be more than willing to jump on they will recoup their fees from the suit, you shouldnt even have to give them a dime.
