I would go to the doctor or call your local pharmacist and tell what you just asked us and he will give you the best information that you need to know because it could be a series of things. sore throat, strep throat ,sore from yelling or a burnt throat from something to hot that you ate or smoked. Take care of this right away, because I had the same pain and I couldn't even drink water and I had a infection in my throat and I gargled in a medication called Niyastat for your mouth.

If it is accompanied by a fever it is likely Strep Throat, and you will need to see a doctor. If untreated, strep can cause serious problems.

If it is accompanied by congestion, it is probably just a cold virus, and there isn't much you can do.

Either way, you should head over to your doctor if the sore throat lasts over three days. The test is a simple swab at the back of your throat.

As for relief, try warm liquids (Throat Coat tea with lemon and honey), gargling salt water, and some even suggest gargling warm water with a sprinkling of cayenne pepper.

Try a hot lemon and honey drink. Put a heaped teaspoon of honey in a mug with the juice of half a lemon, fill cup with boiling water and stir until the honey is dissolved. Sit down and sip the hot drink, take care not to burn your mouth. Also anaesthetic lozenges will give a few hours relief from the pain. Or just take painkillers and see a doctor. Hope you feel better soon.

Sounds like strep to me too. Take a flashlite and look at ur throat in the mirror, if u see little white things on ur tonsils, then it is strep and u do require a throat swab and antibiotics. I suggest gargling with salt water at least 3x a day as well. I imagine ur throat is red and inflammed too. Go to doctor either way, u need to be able to drink and eat. Good luck.

If you can, mix a jello mix with water and then put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Gelatin helps sore throats so much! If that doesn't help go the hospital you may have strept throat which can be deadly if not treated. Also if you get sore throats often, ask your doctor if you can get your tonsils removed.

I need a better description, but it might be strept throat (inflammation from bacteria). Does it hurt when you cough and laugh also? I'm pretty sure it's strept. Go see a doctor to get it diagnosed def... It'll go away after a while, just get plenty of sleep and get plenty to eat although it hurts. You probably don't want to get antibiotics because doctors generally try and avoid prescribing that stuff because it might raise the bacteria's resistance.

May it is a mild viral infection. Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html
