Boeing/Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche

USA

Stealth and as dangerous as an Apache and quieter. Only thing that could really beat it was the price tag which made it get cancelled for now.

the Comanche was specifically tailored to the role of armed scout. It is smaller and lighter than the Apache gunship — 43 feet (13.1 m) long and 7,700 pounds (3500 kg) vs. 58 ft (17.7 m) and 11,400 pounds (5200 kg) – and its composite material airframe incorporated stealth features to avoid detection, such as retractable weapon stations and main gun, faceting and RAM. It has the capability to remotely guide a missile launched by an assisting jet to its own target. The Comanche's noise signature is noticeably smaller than others in its class.

The Comanche's very sophisticated detection and navigation systems were intended to allow it to operate at night and in bad weather. Its airframe was designed to fit more easily than the Apache into transport aircraft or onto transport ships, enabling it to be deployed to hot spots quickly. If transport assets were not available, the Comanche's ferry range of 1,260 nautical miles (2330 km, 1553 Statuate Miles) would even allow it to fly to battlefields overseas on its own.

For sparviero: Yes the Apache is very modern. Look up the AH-64D. Even though the design is from the mid 70's and it entered service in the mid 80's, they are upgraded frequently. The current "D" model has two GE T700-701C engines rated at around 1800 shp each. The radome on top of the rotor and its control boxes can be moved to another aircraft in under 45 min. The radar has modes for ground targets, air to air, and some can now do 3D terrain mapping. It can track and classify more targets than one bird can carry Hellfires for, and hand them off to other aircraft via sattelite data link. Longbows have a glass cockpit for the most part, the newer lots having three MPD's up front by removing the ORT (optical relay tube). For survivability it carries the APR-39 for enemy radar detection, which shows direction and type of radar. The AVR-2 for laser detection. ALQ-136 for radar jamming, ALQ-144 for IR jamming. The newest TADS camera up in the nose, from what i've heard from friends still in the Army, can just about spot a dime on the ground in great detail. The TADS/ PNVS offers the pilot and gunner night vision, thermal imaging, and day optics for night flying and targeting. Those, along with the gun, can be slaved to the helmets to look where either of them looks. The comm radios can operate on standard freq's or freq hop so they can't be picked up by normal radios. The newes batch of Longbow's, which I believe come out in the next few years, will have 701D engines and an improved drivetrain to handle the power. There is plenty I left out, but for everything packed into an Apache, it is definitely the most modern, at least compared to military copters. It's plenty fast, maybe not the fastest, but nobody will outrun a Hellfire.

for James K: apache is modern? when I was at kindergarten I built a model of apache, and today I go to university....this is not an insult for Apache, the dates tell that on their own.....Ok, it is updated, so you can say that is also advanced, but I think that the question does not involve the versions or the updates but the original projects, so it may be advanced but not modern.....If I am in wrong and the question is also about the newer versionsi say you "sorry".....

In the field of attack helicopters Eurocopter Tiger(France-Germany , but choosen also by Australia, Spain ......) is the most modern, but also kamov Ka-50(Russia) are quite modern.
(of course most modern don't always mean best)

For utility helicopters NH-90(France-Italy-Germany-Great Britain, choosen by Spain, Australia, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Holland, Portugal, Greece, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Belgium, New Zeland) , A.109LUH(Italian, choosen by Sweden, South Africa....and others) and AW-139(Italian, used in several Governative services like Police, Coast Guard, Border Guard in various nations like Emirates, Spain, Ireland, Australia, Japan, Ireland and a military version is coming as AW-149).

For medium helicopters EH-101(Italy-Great Britain, choosen also by Canada, USA(Marine One), Japan, Portugal, Danmark ), while sikorsky S-92 is coming but is not as good as EH-101.
