I dont really think there is a "right" age to start dating/kissing. I started really dating when I was in eighth grade (14 years old). I think it all depends on how mature the people in the relationship are. I can tell you that if it were my daughter and she was in 5th grade, I wouldnt let her date, or at least, I would have to be there, or know the guy.

hmmm.....I think it's too young to start kissing, but as long as the children are chaperoned, it's ok for them to go on a date. if they give each other a little kiss, so what? I think that she needs to investigate her interest in boys (since it's obviously already there), rather than it being not allowed by parents. the dates definitely need to be chaperoned, and if they're over at each other's house, then the bedroom doors should never be closed and they should never be home alone. I think that this is a fair compromise between what the child wants and the parents concerns.

I wish there were an exact answer. I know i started earlier then i should have. i don't regret it, i was mature for my age. But now my sisters are at the age and it really bugs me to even think about them doing it. I don't like to be a hypocrite, i just think that it's hard to even see younger siblings grow up. At least it shows that you care. It does seem like kids are getting "serious" at younger ages. my 11 year old sister has had the same boyfriend on and off for 2 years. they say i love you and everything. I really do think that that is too young. But don't try to tell them that because it won't help, they will just be angry at you. :)

Going on a date would be like age 14 or so. But having a boyfriend 5th grade.
That sounds so cute. They probably won't even kiss.
Good Luck :)

The perfect age is either 13 or 14, at the youngest. Your little sister is kidding herself if she thinks anything is going to happen, it's just a harmless crush.
