Having a collection is not illegal, carrying them in public is. Just check with local laws at the library or at the police station and see if it is illegal. As far as shipping goes most catalogs and web sites let you know if it's legal or not.

I live in fresno and have several. The ONLY trouble you will have is with sword canes. As for any other sword, there isn't a problem. Most companies will put in their catalogues, or on their web pages it a particular item cannot be sent to a particular place, at which point you just have it sent to someone you know out of state and have them send it to you.

You can carry one on your person as long as it is exposed, the law is nothing over 4" blade comcealed, all else must be exposed. What of all the gardeners with Machetes? Cmon guys, it's hidden weapons , and guns that are illegal.
Think of a big Bowie knife on some bikers belt, legal ehh?
Yep you betcha, and it can be 6' long. Now isn't that a kind of sword?

It's not against the law to own swords. It is against the law to carry them on you, though.
