E-filing for free on the Internet is a great way to get your taxes done quickly, painlessly, and without hiring an expensive accounting service. At http://freetax.mortgageous.com they have free standard federal return preparation, e-filing, and printing. They have free support too, and I also like that they guarantee an accurate return or they'll pay the penalties.

If you'd like to file your own taxes without using software and this is the first time you're filing on your own, you may want to contact your local public library to see if they're running a free tax clinic.

You can either file electronically using any of the free file links off of the IRS website or file the paper forms yourself.

You can also do the same thing for your state income taxes.

I second that Turbo Tax is the next best thing to having your taxes done by a professional, and it makes it sooooo much easier than trying to figure out all of the forms yourself.

Get turbo tax and do them on the program and then file on line and get your refund. Everything on turbo tax is pretty simple and easy to follow instructions.
