What size engine? If it is a V8 I would suggest checking out Banks Power. Unless you want to go with a Vortech supercharger that resembles a turbo but runs off a belt.
The Gale Bank's Power twin turbo system makes from 640 hp to about 1100 hp.

The Vortech Supercharger will make about 30% to 75% more power to your stock engine.

I'll agree with the Banks Turbo idea. Gale Banks has been making turbos for 454's for years and can sell you a "bolt on" sytem, with intercooler. They are actually installed on a lot of motor homes and towing rigs and such. Torquey.
A turbo is more efficient than a belt driven supercharger because it uses wasted energy (exhaust gas flow) to intake pressure. A belt driven supercharger, while traditional, simpler, and easier to install, must sap power from the running engine to operate.
Also, Rayjay and Turbo City were big turbo outlets back in the day. Not sure if they are still out there but you might want to try.

Well, I think I would avoid that whole idea all together. When you install a turbo on an engine that was not designed for it, you are on a slippery slope. Turbochargers do increase power availability when fueled correctly and sized correctly for the engine. There are alot of factors involved here, and not enough room to tell about it, but you will atleast need to increase oil pump flow and sump capacity and install an oil cooler to dissipate the heat being pulled off of the turbo through the lube oil. If you don't, you are asking for catastrophic component failure. I am not even going to start on the induction/fuel side of it, especially with it being carbed. A nightmare waiting to happen.

Why use a turbocharger ..that kicks in only when a engine itself tops off...when you can have a supercharger...which gives you power fulltime..plus a supercharger is more suited to a muscle car...turbochargers require more engine management and work better with computer chips..late 80's to early 00's models...the supercharger is low tech and easier to bolt on plus you can add a blower to that..so that monster V-8 can breathe
