Sometimes the context the word is used in will help you to remember the word. Sometimes it does take more than one occurence of the word to make it part of your bank of knowledge. It takes time. Keep doing what you are doing. Personally, I enjoy expanding my vocabulary. And you know what. I find that it isn't as important to use your expanded vocabulary in every-day conversation. The whole point is to know the words that are spoken to you, and know the words that you are reading.

Hi, i was very bad with the vocabulary because its so boring to remember words and their meaning but when i found www.mnemonicdictionary.com ,i found the solution of all my memory related issue. This site is so helpful.
Few examples from website:
Apropos :=> At an opportune time;of an appropriate or pertinent nature
If you are planning to PROPOSE a girl, propose her on a SPECIFIC TIME or at an opportune time . Not anywhere, not everywhere... Otherwise you are going to loose your heart

Join a "Word of the day" e-mail list. But don't just look at the meaning. Make it a point to use the word (correctly) at least once. Reading is also a good thing, but don't read for the sake of improving your vocabulary...read because reading is good excercise for your brain and when you don't stress about it as much it will just come to you.

It's the same concept as learning a foreign language. You listen to the language even if you don't always understand each word, and before long, you brain has picked up words and you didn't even realize it was happening. :)

Good luck.

Basically there are two techniques for learning: Active learning and Passive learning
1. Passive learning: New words are acquired subconsciously, while doing some daily life stuff, like reading a newspaper.
Basic hurdles in learning are due to many reasons like reading habits, family background, schooling, culture etc. The conventional methods are very generic and are made of masses. They do not allow personalized learning to an individual’s current vocabulary.

2. Active learning: Active learning methodology has become a preferred way to change the traditional teacher centered classroom into the newer student centered approach to learning. Little development. In active learning acquisition of new words is done with conscious and great efforts.
Active learning building is very rigorous and boring due to its monotonous nature.
If you are looking for an online resource for active learning then you must look up for Vocabmonk.com
Vocabmonk uses an artificial intelligence algorithm to track individual’s learning/quiz data and mashed up that data to recommend personalized learning to students, based on their current vocabulary size.
The site uses game mechanics to amplify engagement and also provides competitive learning through collaboration of social media.

Various levels to be achieved as you progress in learning and the distinctive feature is that you can invite your mentor to look up your activities on the website.

Look through a dictionary and make a list of words that you think will be useful or you think are just fun to know. Then, repeatedly go through the list and review.

Keep reading the language. When you learn a new word, find ways to use it several times in conversation--that is the way that your brain will truly learn it. Memorization will only get you so far--you need to really speak the language to learn it well.

a flash card program like "Before you know it" http://www.byki.com can help you if you use it daily. Learning a new word is like creating any habit. You have to perform the act daily for 21 days to make it yours.
