My cat has a cut on the top of her paw ,right between her two middle toes, we have been to the vet 5 times and its not healing. The vet found a sist under the scab and drained it. He then gave her a perscription for anti-biotics for the duration of two weeks. That two weeks is up and the vet gave us a perscription for an anti-septic spray. She has been getting the spray for a little over two weeks but the cut is still there. It dosent look infected but its still oozing a clear liquid.. I am worried and wondering if the vet is handleing this right. I am scared and feel like the cut will never heal.

Did you try neosporin? Sometimes vets are overzealous and the simple human treatments work.

It should have healed in two weeks with antibiotics. Speak frankly to your vet and ask for more diagnostics, or else just get a second opinion. It's probably nothing big - could be a small foreign body they missed, or a cyst or something. Your vet may be reluctant to recommend more diagnostics knowing that it runs up your bill and s/he may find something s/he missed before -- s/he may be waiting on the cue from you, to ask to do more, before investigating more. Like with any doctor, you have to have a good communicating relationship with your vet -- if you aren't comfy with this one, try another.

becuase the wound is on her paw and is probably constantly rubbed on something, the wound is taking a while to heal. Salt water is known to promote the healing process of open wounds - though it stings a bit. Dip kitty's paw in warm sterilized water with some (1 tsp in 1/2 a cup) table salt dissolved in it. Or you can swab the wound with the salt and water solution using a cotton ball. Do that several times a day. Can't hurt and its worth a try.

cats lick their wounds which causes them 2 stay open and unhealed. make sure you are keeping gauze wrapped around her paw to prevent her from chewing in it. this will also allow the wound to heal without bacteria getting back inside. this sounds grose, but if you dont keep it wrapped your cat will eventually dismember her own foot and the entire leg will have to be amputated. i worked for the humane society and the local shelter, and i have seen this happen many times. keeping it wrapped up and keeping the cat calm seemed to work the best. i hope this helps

I agree try neosporin and if it doesn't heal because kitty is licking it, go to another vet. give it a little more time
