I'd have to agree with Kate here. But the question is perhaps deeper than the author intended. Why is Kate bothered? Because people place an emphasis on beauty and ugliness. How many women are affected by comments that she's ugly? They feel bad about themselves because other people are ready to judge them by their looks.
Which means, in principle, Kate should be offended by reverse "Who's the prettiest woman's tennis player?", because it's that question that makes people start to rank the people they see, and to have them compliment people on their beauty (which is, of course, in the eye of the beholder). Once upon a time, in the mid-70s America, that question (who's prettiest?) was met with the phrase "I want you to like me for my mind".
Admittedly, the 80s turned the tables, and instead of people trying to ignore what is, after all, something of a genetic disposition to find desirable mates, men became objectivized, especially the early ads of Calvin Klein (and these days, the ads from Abercrombie and Fitch).
Even so, women seem to react more painfully to the comments of their beauty than men, and really, if women ever got to a point where they could be like some guys who say they are fat and ugly and still feel pretty good about themselves, it would do their self-esteem much better.
But just to answer the question (sigh), I'd say, in terms of the gracefulness of their strokes, the "ugliest" strokes are Pam Shriver's groundstrokes, but they worked well enough for her to get to the net and play great doubles with Martina.

Thanks for a poll that shows the high % of shallow lame people using Yahoo Q&A . . .
I guess it is your types that provoke the radical Islamics with your exteme stupidness . . .
FYI - tennis is an athletic skill, not a miss universe competition , but you might know that if you had ANY skills yourself . . .
Update: Re pretty players; if the focus was still on appearance over performance, it would indcate low grey matter on the part of the observer but at least positive comments are tolerable where pointless destructive comments are NOT.
Unless one is talking about an alterable undesirable behavior,
The old rule applies, "If you can't say something nice,
Shut Up so others don't have to hear you puke."

Shahar Peer, Mauresmo, and Jelena Jankovic. Although they all have inner beauty
oh and Kusnetsova too, if she didn't have boobs, I'd think she was a man.
